The Storms River Rehab

Although our therapeutic approach is often described as destructive in terms of dismantling addiction’s denial system, our empathy, compassion and understanding simultaneously offer that safe platform from which we begin to move you forward toward the new life.

Although our counselling techniques are those used in all of Europe’s top clinics, our fee of £1200 per month makes freedom from the chains of addiction an affordable reality without inflicting more financial chaos onto hurting families.

South Africa Garden Route

Although our guidance will take you into the ugliness of your addiction, our surroundings of The Tsitsikamma Forest, the garden of South Africa’s Garden Route, offers an unrelenting therapeutic atmosphere and The Serenity Prayer in Surround Sound.

Although our hopes for you are of the highest order, our expectations of you are what we know to be simply manageable. Supervised written step work is broken down into sections where the damage is exposed and dealt with at your pace and needed sensitivity. Our goal for you is to see you firmly grounded in the 12-Step Recovery Programme by walking you through Steps 1 to 5. Our counsellors have decades of productive recovery life to pass on to both you and your family. What you see in this team is exactly what the 12-Step Programme should produce.

Environment

Although The Storms River Rehab is known as being like ‘home environment’, our team of counsellors and medical professionals have successfully taken this clinic to Government Registration status and never loses sight of the task at hand, dismantling the addiction, reconstructing the family.

Note from our Director:

As a dying heroin addict in and out 6 English treatment facilities throughout the 80’s and into the 90’s, I would often day dream about one thing; turning these years of destructive addictive misery into an affordable treatment clinic. It was a ridiculous dream given my condition at that time, but it never actually left me. The dream was to do things slightly differently than the many rehabs I had failed in. I wanted to add to the professionalism, a deeply personal touch that I believed only established recovered ex-addicts could offer. I needed to see a living hope. Our clinic has surpassed all my dreams. In 15-years of freedom I went on to marry Deanna who studied and graduated Law and now looks after all your admin and finance with meticulous integrity. I also studied and graduated Theology. So alongside depth of Step Work insight we have evolved into an extremely popular Spiritual Awareness Programme with Relationship Development Courses from America all facilitated by a counselling team of four stabilised ex-addicts whose lives of integrity and passion stands open to anyone’s scrutiny. Difference

What difference could Storms River Rehab make?

Good question. We believe several factors give Storms River Rehab (SRR) the cutting edge.

1. We at SRR willingly refer clients on to other facilities if we recognise that our programme is not suitable for their developmental needs. For example, Storms River Rehab is not registered to work with psychiatric disorders. Having identified psychiatric disorders previously, we have explained to everyone concerned what we believe the next best move should be; we have pro-rata refunded clients and seen them safely to airports and other collection points. We know our specialist areas and what it means to be fair.

2. We at SRR resolve to best serve the client’s interests, whatever the circumstances. From time to time clients have been bitterly resistant to receiving therapy and have on many occasions become aggressive and abusive. Nevertheless, our team fully understand the thinking behind this mindset and are each willing to do whatever it takes: (a) to win them over, or (b) to ensure that the client is taken safely to an airport or collection point of their request.

3. We at SRR, working in conjunction with Dr’s Henry Cloud and John Townsend’s Boundaries material from www.cloudtownsend.com in the USA, are fully sympathetic to the emotional and relational developmental needs of our clients. Addiction brought the client to us, yet in many cases we have learned how ‘relational disfunctionalism and social anxiety’ took them to the addiction. Our programme caters for these essential growth needs with twice weekly Growth Groups in the widely acclaimed Boundaries and Safe People series.

4. We at SRR feel confident enough in the quality and effectiveness of our work that we are willing to give you contact details of ex-clients and/or their family in England for you to call and speak to personally. We believe that our strongest testimony is the now productive, ex-destructive lifestyles of many young and old men and women who gave themselves the opportunity for treatment at SRR.

82% of our clients at Storms River Rehab have been in anything up to 10 previous rehabs before coming to us. All of them say about our facility, ‘this is different’.
Family members will be given the personal contact details of the client’s counsellor and of the Programme Director for weekly updates and/or programme queries. Information offers families empowerment.

Finally, after the first ten day settling in period, SRR invites family members to turn up at our facility unannounced to visit their loved one. You will be shown round the facility and introduced to any or all staff members. What you see truly is what you get.
