Type of Property

We offer "First, Second and Third" stage accommodation for men and women who are seeking recovery from addiction and/or alcoholism and who are committed to maintaining an abstinent lifestyle.
Housing support costs and rent are met through a combination of Supporting People and Housing Benefit. Clients must be eligible or in the receipt of statutory benefits or have funding to cover this.

Description

England
Chrysalis Supported Association Limited was originally formed in Bristol in March 2003 to provide supported accommodation. The services have now extended to offer first and second stage treatment in un-registered accommodation with third stage tertiary support and accommodation. Chrysalis also has a number of individual self contained flats, with more currently in development.

Chrysalis’ staff teams are highly skilled in the treatment, support management and training field with many years of experience in the addiction and care field. All staff are routinely and consistently trained with a high degree of personal supervision provided.

Chrysalis is an equal opportunity employer and service provider. We are a full member of EATA and DrugScope and are an umbrella organisation for the Criminal Records Bureau.

Treatment

Chrysalis offers an Integrated treatment approach in association with DCSS which delivers from a humanistic perspective within a 12 step framework. We believe that given the right conditions growth and change is possible for all clients.

Resettlement

Chrysalis has good links with other tertiary providers and looks to resettle individuals who are not staying with Chrysalis. For those who are staying with Chrysalis second and third stage accommodation is available for up to 2 years. We are also negotiating with named providers for individual housing allocations within the Bristol Area.

DRUGS TESTING & RELAPSE POLICY

Chrysalis is an abstinence-based supported housing project and in signing the tenancy agreement an individual is agreeing to abide by the House Rules, which prohibit the taking of alcohol and/or drugs. (In some circumstances an individual may be permitted the use of prescribed medication, but not without the prior written and/or verbal consent of the Project Manager).

In signing the tenancy agreement an individual is also agreeing to be randomly drug tested where they may be asked to provide a urine sample whilst being supervised by a member of staff. Refusal to be tested, a positive reading or other proof of relapse will result in the individual concerned being asked to leave the project immediately.

Action on Relapse
If a resident relapses you should contact a member of staff or out of office hours contact the on-call representative, unless the person is violent or seriously ill in which case contact the relevant emergency services first.
In the circumstance that the relapse occurs at night, and if the person is agreeable and co-operative and not a threat to other members of the house, they may stay in their room until the morning when the project worker will assist them to leave and find alternative accommodation where possible.

Re-applying to Chrysalis
If an individual has relapsed at Chrysalis they may not reapply for six weeks (or a term that has been otherwise agreed). On receiving the application, the manager will treat the request like any new application, and that person will be subject to the normal application process, and they may have to wait on the waiting list if accepted.
