PROGRAMMES
Primary Care
Extended Primary Care
Day Patient Programme
Given that some clients are unable to commit to an inpatient programme we offer a service whereby clients may join the Primary Care Programme but on a day patient basis. These clients will be able to live at home with an adequate support structure whilst enjoying the full benefits of an inpatient programme.
For clients who have already been discharged from a Primary Care Programme and who may find themselves struggling in their recovery they would also be afforded the opportunity to join the In Patient programme on the same basis for as many days as they wished in order to get back on track with their recovery and to get the support that they may need to prevent a possible relapse.
Eating Disorder Unit
The purpose of the program will be to treat individuals suffering from eating disorders in a supportive environment. It will be run with the 12 step program as its model and eating disorders will be treated as a disease whereby the eating disorder can never be cured, but can be arrested. Abstinence from starving, bingeing, purging and overeating will be a pre-requisite.mary care will concentrate on a feeding system whereby the client will be fed according to a meal plan that has been designed by the dieticians especially for the client and her/his needs. As the client has been starving, bingeing, purging and overeating, her/his brain has been affected, so correct nutrition is essential to regulate this. There will be individual counselling, group therapy, movement classes, art therapy, meditation groups, step work, didactic lectures, nutrition and addiction education. The primary care program will run for 6 weeks to 3 months, depending on the clients needs.
The Harmony Eating Disorder programme will be run in a loving and nurturing environment with firm boundaries and limitations, so that the clients will feel held and contained.
Individual Counselling
For clients that leave treatment and feel they would like to work on some deep seated issues that would take longer to resolve we can offer them ongoing individual counselling by a member of out team who has knowledge of their personal profile. This service would also be suitable for family members or loved ones or for those who feel that they may have a substance abuse problem but would like to explore this further before joining a treatment programme.Interventions Unit
As part of our services harmony has put together a highly professional team of clinical interventionists. These experts have all been working in the field of addictions for many, many years and are there to assist people in getting their loved one’s the help that they need. If your relationship/family is being torn apart by the addictive behaviour of another person, and that person is not willing to come to terms with their actions, we can help. The team will initially meet with the persons adversely affected, to get some historical background, and give them informed, guided opinion on how best to address the problem at hand.
Having done that, the team, together with all parties, including the using addict, will then meet, and confront the situation, with the aim to getting the individual involved to face up to the consequences of their addiction once and for all, and to enter treatment.
It has generally been years of torment before one gets to the point of having to take drastic action to put a stop to the chaos brought about by substance abuse, and by implementing an intervention strategy such as this, the cycle can finally be broken, and the damages of the past begin to heal.
