The Addictions Unit at the Kenilworth Clinic is a benchmark facility for addiction treatment in Southern Africa. Since 1994 many patientse have been helped back to a contented lifestyle, free from addiction.

The unit prides itself on its record of successful outcomes, its very experienced counselling team and a patient-to-counsellor ratio which allows for intensive individual counselling.

Although the unit is a seperate facility, it is part of a bigger psychiatric hospital. Patients with more complicated dual disorders enjoy the benefits of the collaborative approach between the various units and teams in the hospital.

The Addictions Unit is housed in a separate, modern, 24-bed facility on the Kenilworth Clinic campus. The building is purpose-designed with the comfort and recovery of patients in mind.

The counselling team consists of professionals and para-professionals. It includes psychologists, social workers and an occupational therapist – all trained, skilled and experienced in the treatment of addictive disorders. Art, drama and other specialised therapists extend the team.

A fulltime doctor, psychiatrist and nursing team provide 24 hour medical assistance and psychologists provide therapy and psychometric assessment, when required
