Description
EnglandLangley House Trust
Programme content for both projects
Length of Programme
The primary phase of the programme runs for 13 weeks. The focus is on addressing addiction problems and achieving a stable, structured daily pattern of living. The second phase of treatment is tailored to individual need and funding requirements and can last from 3 to 9 months. Clients gradually build involvement with the local community through a tailored programme of educational and social activities and voluntary work placements, building self-esteem and gaining the confidence and skills to resettle back in society.
Staffing
Qualified and experienced therapeutic staff including a therapeutic team leader and counsellors manage and run the programme whilst full-time residential staff provide 24 hour cover for the home. Staff
share a Christian value base, enhancing the quality of care.
The Programme
The Langley House Approach provides a safe, drug and alcohol free
environment in which residents are encouraged to develop both
self-awareness and personal responsibility. This is achieved by looking
at the individual as a whole. This holistic approach focuses on the
biological, psychological, sociological and spiritual elements of the
‘Human Being’. Addiction negatively impacts on all these elements.
The Programme has a multi-disciplinary team of counsellors who work under a framework known as the Minnesota Methodology which uses the principles of a 12 Step abstinence based model.
The Counsellors use their knowledge, skill and experience to select the most suitable counselling models for each individual, this enhances the therapeutic process and provides a positive long term
outcome for the resident.
Peer support is a vital element of our approach: residents who have faced the same issues offer understanding and support. We also encourage attendance at NA or other mutual support meetings which provide lifelong and free support, 24 hours a day.
Visitors
Family visits are at staff discretion. There are regular times for visitors but alternative arrangements can be made for residents with children or where there are special circumstances. Murray Lodge has recently opened a separate family room with children's play area.
Conditions
Residents must be drug-free on the day of admission. In some instances, residents must have completed a detoxification programme before admission.
Referral Procedure
Referrals are welcomed from anyone who needs to address their drug problem in a residential setting. Both projects can accept residents voluntarily or on Bail, Probation, Parole or other order of the court and take referrals from across the UK. Referrals need to be made using an Application Pack available from either project or from Central Services and will normally be made by a Probation Officer, drug counsellor or other professional worker. Completed application forms together with copies of relevant reports, including criminal record, and written self assessment should be sent directly to the selected project. Applicants at liberty will be asked to attend for an interview which provides an opportunity to meet staff and other residents. Admission thereafter can be arranged within 48 hours, provided there is written confirmation of funding. Applicants in custody will normally be assessed on the basis of the application form, accompanying reports and an assessment by a member of our Therapeutic Team.
Diversity
Both projects are committed to promoting equality and valuing diversity. Religion, race, nationality or sexual orientation will not be Part of the selection criteria. We will challenge any discriminatory attitude within the house. Religion is not a part of the programme but there will be opportunities to explore personal spirituality.

Staff at both projects welcome informal enquiries from those considering making a referral. If you require further information, please write or phone. Prospective residents are welcome to visit by prior appointment, as are Drugs Workers, Probation Officers,
