Description

England
Alcoholism & Chemical Dependency

Alcoholism and chemical dependency are the most widespread and costly addictions to our society. The impact and devastation this disease incurs to individuals, their families, industry and society are immeasurable.

At Life Works, we take the best alcohol and drug treatment on offer in both the US and UK and incorporate them into our own unique programme designed by internationally renowned clinicians. Based on the 12 steps developed 70 years ago, the Life Works Alcoholism/ Chemical Dependency Programmes use a variety of proven and dynamic techniques designed to help you achieve sustained and fulfilling recovery.

Eating Disorders
The Life Works Eating Disorders Programme provides an individual-specific treatment plan for clients with eating disorders, including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Compulsive Overeating.

Our skilled and experienced counsellors address the full spectrum of issues from body image, perfectionism, control and the chronic nature that is central to eating disorders. We use a variety of techniques to facilitate the necessary shame reduction and disease concept work. Our goal at Life Works is facilitate the client's understanding of the underlying causes of their disorder, help them break free from the cycle of addiction whilst working towards self-acceptance and a healthy eating plan.

Sexual Compulsivity/Sex Addiction & Love Addiction
Sexual Compulsivity/Sex Addiction
The effects of sexually compulsive behaviour can be devastating for individuals. Every day they risk losing their families, health, finances and careers.

The Life Works Sexual Compulsivity Programme recognises that individuals suffering from sexual compulsivity or sexual anorexia are deserving of an autonomous and individual-specific treatment programme.

Staffed by our qualified and experienced professionals, we use group therapy, individual therapy and psycho-education to help the client understand and halt these painful processes. Reducing shame and understanding the cycle of addiction are key components of our programme. In addition, our multi-disciplinary team is able to assist the client in resolving any trauma that often accompanies compulsive behaviours.

Love Addiction
Love addicts assign too much time, attention and value to another person. They find themselves continually drawn into unhealthy relationships that cause them pain.

As with our Sexual Compulsivity Programme, our core belief is that love addicts are deserving of an autonomous treatment programme tailored to their specific needs. The goal of the Life Works Love Addiction Programme is to help the client understand their behaviour and learn how to develop satisfying, loving and healthy relationships in the future.

Codependency
The Life Works Codependency Programme provides an individual-specific treatment plan for codependent clients, addressing the full spectrum of codependency: from feelings of chronic low-self worth to the codependent's need to gain self-approval from others. The aim of the programme is to help codependent clients uncover the origins of these misperceptions and maladaptive behaviours, working towards a redefinition of themselves and others whilst learning new methods of self-care.

Impaired Executives & Health Care Professionals
The Life Works Impaired Executives & Health Care Professionals Programme is based on successful treatment models in the US. We believe that a programme targeted at the unique needs of these professionals results in a significantly higher success rate, giving clients access to help without jeopardising their careers.

Our goal at Life Works is to aid the client's recovery whilst optimising their performance potential. Where desirable, we work closely with employers to enhance the client's chances of a productive and continuous recovery. Detailed back to work and continuing care plans are central to the programme.

Many of our senior staff members have both years of experience at the highest level of corporate life and in working with impaired professionals. We believe that our combination of professional excellence and personal experience will benefit our clients.

Dual Diagnosis Treatment model
On admission to residential care at Life Works, each client receives a detailed medical, psychiatric and therapeutic evaluation that provides the basis for an effective individual-specific treatment plan. In some cases, depression and/or anxiety may co-exist with addiction or trauma. It is essential this be assessed and treated simultaneously to prevent either from sabotaging the client's progress and to enable lasting recovery.

We combine our addiction and trauma treatment to formulate a truly holistic approach to the difficulties a client may be facing. Much of this work will continue in aftercare consultations with the client, the Life Works staff and the client's clinical advisors.

Family & Partners
Alcoholism and addiction are often referred to as 'family diseases' due to the significant and devastating impact they have on the family unit. After the loved one's treatment, family and relationship dynamics will alter. It is essential for family members and partners to gain an awareness and deeper understanding of this disease to promote lasting recovery, relapse prevention and renewed enriching relationships. For this reason, the Life Works Family & Partner Programme: Family Works is at the core of all our treatment programmes.

At Life Works we strive for the client, partner and family to develop open, loving and healthy relationships. Our Family & Partner Programme helps clients develop the skills and tools required for rebuilding family and relationship structures whilst encouraging them to engage in the recovery process themselves.

Trauma
The symptoms of unresolved traumatic stress from either child abuse or adult traumas (sexual, physical, emotional, accidents, illness, combat) can have severe and life threatening repercussions on an individual's life. Clearly, unresolved trauma is often a significant cause of relapse in recovering individuals.

The Life Works Trauma Programme: Life Renewal provides clients with an individual-specific treatment plan and is run on either an autonomous or integrated programme basis. Our experienced clinicians use a number of different proven methodologies to greatly decrease or eliminate the emotional distress related to trauma. Our goal at Life Works is to help clients achieve resolution and continued growth in their recovery.

Gambling Addiction
Compulsive Gambling

The Life Works Compulsive Gambling Programme treats gaming addiction, also known as pathological gambling or problem gambling. We offer an individual-specific treatment plan for clients with a gambling problem. Problem gambling can affect significant areas of a person’s life, including health, social, employment/school, financial, legal, and family relationships. High-risk problem gamblers often borrow money with every intention of repaying it, but realistically that rarely happens. These behaviours have noticeable negative effects in areas of their life, such as excessive debt, marital problems or illegal activity to fund their addiction.

Our skilled and experienced counsellors address the full spectrum of issues from financial and emotional bankruptcy to employment and family relationships. We use a variety of techniques to facilitate the necessary shame reduction and recovery. Our goal at Life Works is to facilitate the client's understanding of the underlying causes of their disorder which helps them break free from the cycle of addiction whilst working towards self-acceptance and a life free from the compulsion to gamble.

Counselling
All of us can experience lonely, sad and overwhelming times. Often we can manage these on our own or with the support of friends and family. However, there are times when counselling can be the answer.

You may find counselling helpful if:

You often feel alone and isolated
You feel confused or guilty about what is happening in your life
You are angry or continually frustrated
You are afraid of sharing your real feelings with loved ones
You do not find it easy to talk to people about what's going on inside you
If you think that this sounds familiar, then why not call our care coordinator, Emmy, for a chat?
